Hebburn Bunnies is the rabbit-focused care, grooming and rehoming service based inside The North East Pet Shop in Hebburn.

What began as a small rabbit rescue has grown into a 5-star council-licensed rabbitry, helping rabbits find suitable homes while supporting owners with friendly, experienced advice throughout their rabbit’s life.

Whether you are hoping to welcome rabbits into your family, need help caring for your current bunnies or want to book a grooming appointment, we are here to help. 🧡

We occasionally have rabbits available for responsible homing and rehoming.

Important: Rabbits Must Be Reserved In Store

Rabbits cannot be purchased, reserved or added to a waiting list through our website.

Our team will introduce you to the rabbits currently available, discuss their personalities and care requirements, and help you decide whether they are suitable for your home.

Rabbit availability can change, so we cannot guarantee that rabbits will always be available when you visit.

Reservations cannot be completed through email, telephone, social media or the website. They must be completed in store.

Finding a suitable home is more important to us than simply finding a home quickly.

Before a rabbit is reserved, we will talk to you about:

  • Ongoing veterinary care

  • The time and costs involved in caring for rabbits

Rabbits are social animals and will usually be happiest living with a compatible rabbit companion. Our team can offer guidance on pairs, bonding and suitable living arrangements.

Our specialist Hebburn Bunnies grooming service helps keep rabbits comfortable, healthy and well cared for.

Appointments are carried out by our rabbit-experienced team using gentle handling and rabbit-appropriate grooming techniques.

Depending on the service selected, grooming may include:

  • Nail clipping

  • Brushing and loose-coat removal

  • Fur trimming

  • Mat and knot removal

  • Hygiene and comfort grooming

  • Scent-gland cleaning where required

  • Basic checks of the coat, skin, eyes, ears and nails

  • Advice about maintaining your rabbit’s coat at home

We offer different appointments for short-haired rabbits, long-haired rabbits, heavy coats and bonded pairs.

Companionship: Rabbits are social animals and usually benefit from living with a compatible companion.

Space: Rabbits need a spacious, secure living area with room to exercise, explore and stand fully upright.

Diet: Good-quality hay should make up most of a rabbit’s diet, alongside fresh water, suitable leafy greens and a measured portion of rabbit pellets.

Enrichment: Tunnels, hides, digging areas, toys and safe items to chew help keep rabbits active and entertained.

Healthcare: Register your rabbits with a rabbit-experienced vet and keep their vaccinations and health checks up to date.
